The inaugural SOA E-Conference was held between 03/06/2020 to 06/06/2020. It was a landmark conference as it was the first conference to be held digitally by the association. It set the path for opening up collaborations between optometrists, opticians and ophthalmologists in Singapore to improve the standards of eye care in Singapore.

The conference saw an average daily attendance of 400 participants. It addressed a wide range of interesting topics such as “New and important revelations about myopia” by Dr. Noel Brennan, a panel discussion on “challenges faced by optometrists in community eye care”. The aim of this conference was to educate practitioners on the ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’, to start practicing primary eye care. Eventually achieving the goal of healthy vision for the general population from both the public and private sectors.

It was a successful event made possible by the sponsors, speakers, and also the hard work behind the scenes by the council members who made this E-Conference go through. Also, not forgetting the participation of the participants, which ultimately is the main reason why this conference was done.
