The inaugural SOA E-Conference was held between 03/06/2020 to 06/06/2020. It was a landmark conference as it was the first conference to be held digitally by the association. It set the path for opening up collaborations between optometrists, opticians and ophthalmologists in Singapore to improve the standards of eye care in Singapore.

The sixth optometry forum of China Optometry Development Education (CODE) was successfully concluded on 23rd May 2020. This forum is sponsored by Optometrist Branch of China Optometric & Optical Association, National Optometry Guidance Committee, organized by TianJin Vocational Institute and co-organized by China Glasses Science-technology Magazine.

We are glad to witness the official formation of the Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AOC-AOMC), announced in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The significant milestone of AOC will open up opportunities to equip the regional optometrists with the essential skills and knowledge to tackle the increasing prevalence of orthokeratology and myopia among the young population.

The President of AOC, Dr Tan Kah Ooi, together with the first-secretary from the Embassy of Japan and CEO from SEED Co. Ltd, Mr Urakabe met up with the President of Ramkhamhaeng University, Assistant Professor Wutisak Lapcharoensap recently, to ink a joint project, whereby students, with the support of AOC and SEED Co., Ltd are selected and trained by the Faculty of Optometry of Ramkhamhaeng University.

The AOC General Delegates Meeting held in Beijing recently witnessed the MOU signing between the Asia Optometric Congress (AOC) and the China Optometric & Optical Association (COOA), a government recognised association in China.

A National Program for Eye Health and Optometrist Society of Cambodia is conducting an ongoing refraction training course from 01 June to 30 December,2019 at the National Refraction Training Centre, in Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Hanoi, Vietnam, 14 August 2019: Today marks an historic day for Hanoi Medical University (HMU) and its School of Optometry, as the first graduating class of optometrists complete their degree. The HMU cohort of 43 optometry graduates join their 12 newly qualified colleagues from the University of Medicine Pham Ngoc Thach (UPNT), in a growing workforce of locally-trained optometrists.
